Art Class: Watercolor Scene

If I didn't attend art class, I don't think I'd ever find time for anything creative this Summer.  Casey of Casey's Minis recognized me with an award in the hopes I'd get back to minis.  While I appreciate the award, it's depressing that I need motivation to get back to what I love, you know?

Is anyone else just tired?  I'm so busy running around in circles all the time when I finally have a few minutes to do something fun, my "off" switch triggers and I'm done for the night.  Some mornings the "on" switch is really slow to trigger too these days.

But anyway, back to class. This week was a watercolor lesson. I find watercolors much easier than acrylics.  Other painters I know think I'm crazy when I say that.  They paint with oils and acrylics and get just exactly what they want, but me?  I struggle with acrylics and get something nice (sometimes), but with watercolors I seem to get what the effect without too much fuss.   It's still a struggle every class, but each time it's getting a little bit easier.  In another 20 years I might even feel like I'm getting somewhere!  :)

This week we painted a Mediterranean scene on paper. I like this one for the plants and the vines, the trees, and the shadowing.  I also like the flagstone courtyard.  It's been so hot here I'd like to walk right into the painting, across the courtyard, and out into the ocean.  Where's Mary Poppins when I need her?

It's beautiful Tiffany- I really love the shadows! If it makes you feel any better I am exhausted this summer too.
